During your online life, you probably have discovered the amazing twitter world. You watch a video explaining it or maybe a friend recommend you to use it. The two things you did when you create your twitter account were:
1) Tweet something like “Hmm.. what’s this all about?”
2) Watch every aspect on your twitter account and realize that “Followers = level of influence” on twitter.
Let me introduce Pepito, a rookie twitter member who’s learning how to tweet. Pepito is 18 years old and it’s studying law, he created his twitter account on monday 5th. A week passed by, and he noticed there was something called “FollowFriday” and he said something like:
Woah! This is the way I’m going to get followers, nice!!
So he starts begging for shouts or people to follow him, the result? no one follow him. Another week passed by, and now with 10 followers Pepito tweet almost 50 times #FF recommendations so his followers get new people followed. He lost over 6 of his followers on that Friday.
Why #FollowFridays don’t work for me? I’m doing the correct thing right? Why my followers are leaving =’( I hate unfollowers.. :@ I’m going to unfollow all that bastards!
Here’re the things Pepito is doing wrong and tips for you to improve your FollowFridays.
1) I’ll not follow you if you don’t have a profile picture. Believe me or not, the profile picture shows a great amount of information to your future followers. Try to use professional profile pictures, colorful photos and the most important thing, try to use photos of you in which you look good or elegant.
2) I’ll not follow you if I see a messenger or a latinchat look like page instead of your twitter profile. Those people who use your twitter account as a “Get an online girlfriend here” or “Hi, I’m … and I’ve messenger but I rather to chat here” deserve to get unfollowed.
3) I’m not going to follow any repeated suggestions for #FF or too many suggestions in one or several tweets. if you constantly repeat them, and when I enter on the profile you suggest, the person hasn’t updated his/her profile like a month ago I wont follow him/her. #FollowFriday is not for you to share your contact list, is for you to share interesting NEW people who creates a twitter and shares important information.
4) I’m not going to follow anyone begging for followers. Been followed by other people is something like “Hey I like what you tweet, I’m going to follow you”, you’ve to earn it.
5) I’M NOT OMBLIGATED TO FOLLOW ANYONE. The twitter account is mine, do you get it? You create your following list by your likes or hobbies. If someone is not following you or he/she unfollow you should not be a reason for you to unfollow him IF his/her information is important to you. It’s better for people to have a pre-following list so you can compare, based on a simulated home page (aka. “your list”), the quantity of tweets per user and the quality of their tweets. It’s a good way to keep your home page organized.
I hope this information helps you to organize and improve your FollowFriday experience, have a nice day and leave your comments! :D
