According to British anthropologist Robin Dunbar the limit it’s based on the fact that for having a friend, you’ve to have a lot of patience, take care of the friendship, and at least talk daily to the person.
Those person that have like 1000 friends on social networks like Facebook could have 150 true friends and 850 contacts.

In my personal opinion, I think that the argument of the Anthropologist Robin Dunbar it’s very true and also a fact, I mean I’ve only 460 “Friends” on my Facebook but they aren’t persons with whom I go out to the movies, party, etc… After I read the information about the Dunbar’s Number I’ve made a summary and a review on my list of friends, and I’ve a maximum of 50 true friends. Taking in consideration all the things that I posted before I can say that you’ve to pick carefully those 150 friends and if there’s one that is taking the worst of you or is hurting you… you should delete him/her ;)
