The most anticipated game by the USA, and many other people around the Globe took place yesterday. The Super Bowl is, in my opinion, an excellent opportunity not only for the people who are watching the game to entertain, but also Companies to promote their products with a high level of probability of reaching to a bigger audience. For me (who honestly have never seen a Super Bowl before) it was a really good experience with a high level of adrenaline while I was rooting for one of the teams. ( Final score: Saints 31 – Colts 17)
What was the effect of the Super Bowl on the Social Media platforms? it depends. On Facebook maybe the users where posting “Go Saints” or “Go Colts”, but for example neither the 60% of my Facebook contacts or I did notice it that much (on Facebook), so how I’ll use a social media platform like Facebook to promote something that can’t be easily noticed by other people? If it reaches to the people, how will I study what people is saying about it? the answer is… you can’t easily. ( One of the problems of Facebook is that the useless apps have overload the Facebook home page and made it more difficult for people to separate junk posts from important information)
What happens on Twitter? The Super Bowl overload twitter so hard that the Fail Whale (The logo that Twitter uses to indicate there’re to much tweets been posting right now) appears everywhere. With a high rate of 1000 tweets every 3 minutes, the Twitter’s trending topic were covered by tweets of people talking about not only the Game, but the TV Ads. It was a big opportunity not only for the companies who present their products on TV, also it was a big opportunity to the other companies to study what people like or not about the Ads so that they can improve it and launch a better product.
Honestly I liked this whole new experience and I’ll try from now on to watch more of the American Football Game.
